In addition to painting the town purple this Homecoming weekend, friends of the Western University community will also be beautifying Veterans Memorial Parkway by planting 100 trees along its berms on Saturday, September 29.

A team of students, faculty and staff will be planting a variety of tree species in support of the Veterans Memorial Parkway Community Program.

“Recruiting people to help with this tree planting activity is a natural fit for Western,” says Beverly Ayeni, Western’s Energy and Environment Manager. “Environmental sustainability is incredibly important on campus and this event allows Western community members a chance to reach beyond the campus to support the greater London community and honour the incredible contributions of our local veterans.”

The Veterans Memorial Parkway Community Project is a partnership between government, business and the community to build a lasting tribute to our servicemen and women. The project also enhances London’s overall environment through a large-scale landscape project.
