Traffic Advisory: Road closures on Western campus

Commuters in the City of London that use roadways at Western University are being advised of upcoming construction projects that will be disrupting normal traffic flow for the next few months.

Western is installing a new pumping station and sanitary sewer line, resulting in road closures along Huron Drive.

As a result of this construction, Huron Drive, between Lambton Drive and Philip Aziz Avenue, will be subject to daily closures (7am-7pm) between May 12 and May 17. Huron Drive at Philip Aziz Avenue will be completely closed between May 19 and June 30.

Motorists and pedestrians are being encouraged to avoid travelling through the area, if possible. Detour signs and notices will be posted to help direct traffic around the site. Access to Huron Flats parking lot, TD Stadium, and South Valley parking lot will be maintained at all times.

The upgraded sanitary sewer infrastructure will serve the new academic building for the Faculty of Information and Media Studies and the Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing. The project will also increase capacity and prepare the area for future development in South Valley.

Along with major sanitary sewage pipe installation, the project includes the addition of a new sewage pumping station and force main.

This project marks the first of a busy summer construction season. To keep up-to-date on all projects and service interruptions, please visit Western’s Department of Facilities Management’s summer construction webpage at https://uwo.ca/fm/projects/summer_construction.html
