Western set to Reveal new show on Rogers TV

Western University, in partnership with Rogers TV, Cable 13, is launching Western Revealed, a new show giving the local community a behind-the-scenes look at the personalities, projects and programs that make the University one of Canada’s best.

The monthly, half-hour show debuts Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 8:30 p.m. and new episodes will air on the third Tuesdays in March, April and May at 8:30 p.m., with encores of each show Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m., Wednesdays at 1 p.m., Fridays at 10 a.m. and Sundays at 10:30 a.m.

The premiere episode features:

  • The Porch Light Program, led by Western’s International and Exchange Student Centre, which provides new international women students the opportunity to connect with women living in the London area;
  • Research on the social behaviour of insects, featuring Western biologist Graham Thompson;
  • Western Law’s Community Legal Services, which provides free legal advice and representation to members of the community;
  • Research on how children learn math, with Daniel Ansari, Canada Research Chair in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience, and his team in Western’s Brain & Mind Institute.

“Western Revealed takes the story of a major institution in the community, and humanizes it,” says Bob Smith, Rogers TV London Station Manager. “Western is an integral part of this community, and this is a way of reaching out and connecting London to its university.”

The show is community produced by Keith Marnoch, Western’s Director of Media & Community Relations, and Marcia Steyaert, Community Relations Specialist at Western, who also acts as the show’s host. Rogers TV’s Ryan Robinson is Associate Producer.

“It’s a way for the community to get to know Western better than they have in the past,” Marnoch says of Western Revealed, a first-ever partnership for the University. “The show tells stories about the kinds of quality people we have at Western, their personalities and the commitment they have to Western and the London community.”
