Western experts can provide context and insight on current events and news-of-the-day topics. If you are a member of the media looking for an expert for a news story, we can help. Please contact the media relations team directly at media@uwo.ca or browse our current lists of experts

News media filming

Western’s Media Relations team can assist members of the news media with filming on campus, including identifying locations for interviews and b-roll, coordinating room bookings, and arranging photography and videography access inside campus facilities. Members of the media are welcome to film and take photographs on Western’s campus; however, some buildings and spaces require a member of the Media Relations team to be present during the shoot. We can also assist with arranging parking passes for media visiting campus.

Commercial and documentary filming

Western’s campus offers a range of unique locations for commercial, documentary and other professional film productions. The Campus Events Office can assist with location scouting, permits and approvals, coordination with campus partners, site access, parking arrangements, and other logistical requirements to support productions on campus. Filming requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis to ensure alignment with university policies, operational requirements and campus activities.

On-campus broadcast and audio studio

The Faculty of Information and Media Studies is home to an industry-standard broadcast studio equipped with professional lighting, camera and audio for both pre-taped and live video broadcast hits via Dejero. The studio can accommodate Zoom interviews with advance notice. The audio studios are available for pre-recorded audio interviews in a professional recording environment.

There is no fee to use either studio unless the interview takes place outside of the university’s regular business hours. For more information please contact the media relations team directly.
