Western’s Local Government Program Alumni Society hosts its 2013 Annual Conference on Friday, November 8, bringing together leaders in municipal public service from across Ontario and beyond.

This year’s theme is The Creative Spark – Public Service Innovation. The keynote speaker is Toronto Transit Commission Chair, Toronto City Councillor, 2014 Toronto Mayoral candidate and Western alumna Karen Stintz.

“This year’s conference theme, public service innovation, has never been more important,” said Martin Horak, director of Western’s Local Government Program. “Today’s municipalities must innovate in order to keep pace with changing demographics and maintain strong public services in times of fiscal constraint.”

The agenda also includes: Gord Hume, one of Canada’s leading voices on municipal government issues, Susanna Hubbard and Josh Morgan from London Public Library, and Kate Graham, Manager of Corporate Initiatives at the City of London.

A reception on the Thursday evening prior to the conference will feature keynote speaker Jeff Fielding, CAO of the City of Burlington and recipient of the Local Government Alumni Society first annual Award of Excellence.

Date: Friday, November 8, 2013
Time: 8:00am – 4:00pm (Keynote speech at 10:30am)
