Marie-Eve Beauchemin-Nadeau, Bruce Kidd, Beckie Scott and Josh Vander Vies have all represented Canada at the world’s biggest sporting event: The Olympic and Paralympic Games.
These four superstar athletes will share their valuable views and insight with fellow athletes, academic researchers and sports industry leaders on Thursday, October 11 when Western University’s Sport and Social Impact Research Group hosts an all-day symposium focused on Canada’s Contribution to Social Impact and Human Rights in Sport.
And four superstar sport scholars from Western’s Faculty of Health Sciences and the Sport and Social Impact Research Group will lead targeted panel discussions throughout the day including:
9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Indigenous/Aboriginal in Sport led by Karen Danylchuk, Western’s Faculty of Health Sciences Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs), and featuring Dallas Soonias, Joy Spear Chief-Morris, Cody Jamieson, and Beckie Scott
11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.:
Gender in Sport led by Alison Doherty, Western’s Sport and Social Impact Research Group Leader, and featuring Guylaine Demers, Allison Sandmeyer-Graves and Bruce Kidd
1 to 2:15 p.m.
Parasport led by Laura Misener, Director of Western’s School of Kinesiology, featuring Josh Vander Vies, Karen O’Neill, Stuart McReynolds and Professor David Legg
3 to 4:15 p.m.
Clean & Fair (Anti-Doping) Sport led by Angela Schneider, Western’s award-winning researcher and Olympic silver medalist, featuring Lyle Makosky, Beckie Scott, Rob Koehler and Marie-Eve Beauchemin-Nadeau
