Today, Western’s Board of Governors ratified a new four-year collective agreement with the University’s Faculty Association (UWOFA) – which represents about 1,564 faculty members, of whom 1,001 are full-time probationary or tenured, 255 are full-time limited-term and 308 are part-time.

The agreement was ratified by 90 per cent of UWOFA members during voting between Nov. 22 and Nov. 23.

“We are pleased to have ratified a new contract with UWOFA, and I commend the commitment and collegiality demonstrated by negotiators for both sides throughout several months of bargaining and discussions,” said Andrew Hrymak, Provost and Vice-President (Academic). “This agreement recognizes the critical roles our faculty play at Western – in research, leadership and students’ learning – while reflecting the current academic environment in Ontario. We look forward to building on this renewed commitment to excellence.”

As part of the new agreement, UWOFA members will receive a salary scale increase of 1.5 per cent in each of the first three years of the agreement and 1.75 per cent in the remaining year. UWOFA’s last agreement expired June 30, 2018.
