This year, Western University is celebrating a century of nursing education.

To mark the milestone, Museum London has pulled from its extensive artifact collection, borrowed from other community archives and private lenders to trace the development of nursing education in London from its earliest days until today.

“This exhibit showcases the last 100 years of nursing education in London, and we are proud of the role Western has played in it. Our nursing program got its start as a Public Health Certificate in Nursing. Since then, we’ve developed outstanding clinicians, researchers, and educators who work across a broad range of practice,” says Victoria Smye, Associate Professor and Director, Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing at Western University.

“Over the last century, The Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing has developed into a world leader in research, discovery and innovation – which will shape the next 100 years.”

“Museum London is proud to help Western’s Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing celebrate its 100th anniversary,” says Amber Lloydlangston, Curator of Regional History, Museum London.

“Through 79 objects, 26 images, and two short videos, we explore how nursing education has evolved. We worked closely with people connected with Western to share the important work of the program.”

Members of the media are invited to view the collection and interview Victoria Smye and Amber Lloydlangston at on Sunday, February 2 at 2:00 p.m.
