As a direct response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, a learning session for Western’s Medicine and Law students, is taking place to focus on the factors that have an impact on Indigenous health and law in Canada.
Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry in partnership with the Faculty of Law is hosting an education day entitled “Tyu ko tak nahte’ yu kwa nute’ – Let’s move what we know forward: Understanding our past and working together to strengthen the future.”
The afternoon will begin with a keynote address from Ry Moran, Director of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation at the University of Manitoba, followed by a question and answer session. Students will then take part in a Blanket Exercise in small break-out groups.
Media is invited to attend the keynote address. Media interviews with Ry Moran, School leaders and students will take place immediately prior to the start of the session.
