National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21) recognizes and celebrates the history, heritage and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis across Canada. Western University has the following experts available to media:

Sheri Nault
Assistant Professor, Visual Arts; Métis visual artist

Areas of expertise: Métis visual artforms, sculpture, performance, beading, Indigenous tattoo revival.

Nicole Redvers
Associate Professor, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry; Western Research Chair and Director of Indigenous Planetary Health

Areas of expertise: Indigenous health, planetary health, traditional medicine, Indigenous global health.

Cody Groat
Assistant Professor, Indigenous Studies, History

Areas of expertise: Indigenous public history and biographical history, commemoration and preservation of Indigenous cultural heritage, sixties scoop and the residential school system.
